The Steve Werner Memorial Grant

The Steve Werner Memorial Grant is founded to honor the late Steve Werner who was a contributor to the concept of The Disc Golf Outlaws and is considered a original member of the group, although the club wasn’t formalized until after his death. It is funded by club activities, club memberships and donations from the disc golf community.

The grant may be awarded to honor a significant contribution to the club as a whole, to recognize continuing meritorious activity to disc golf in the North Coast or on the basis of current need.

We recognize that the economy is an ugly situation and particularly so in Northern California. Unemployment and foreclosures are still rising and everyone is feeling the pinch. When the outlook is as bleak as it is even the smallest entertainment is a welcome diversion from the stress of the recession. So, if a member is placed in a situation where their choice is limited to buying food or participating in the sport that they love, we hope to be able to step in by providing some relief, whether it be in the form of a free entry fee, a contribution toward food, transportation or lodging. In some cases, the grant may be non-monetary. In Steve’s case, transportation to and from Chemotherapy treatments was provided.

Our ability to help is limited to the resources available to us. We depend, to a large extent, on the generosity of the members of the disc golf community to aid us with this effort. To contribute to this effort, you may give a monetary contribution in any amount, via the PayPal donation form in the sidebar If you would like your donation earmarked to a specific activity, please include that in the notes. If you would like to make a non-monetary contribution (eg: transportation to a particular event, camping space), you may do that via our contact form.. If you would like to nominate

Night Flight Portable Course

We want to equip a portable, night play ready 9 hole course that can be set up at
virtually a moment’s notice This will allow us to have short-notice
mini-tournaments, night-tournaments, clinics and events that will
essentially bring the sport to you for a great good time. We can also
make this equipment available for loan to other clubs to support their
tournament and event needs.
